WHAT IS DELICIOUS SPOONFULS?
Delicious Spoonfuls, is a nonprofit organization based in Boca Raton, Florida. Their mission is to empower and expand the lives of people with disabilities through training and employment. They focus on individuals with special needs, including those with Down Syndrome, Autism, and Mental Illness.
It’s common for people facing these challenges to feel apathetic after completing their education. The allure of sitting on the couch, watching TV, and browsing videos can be strong. However, Delicious Spoonfuls aims to change this narrative. By providing meaningful opportunities beyond high school, they encourage everyone to “get off the couch” and actively participate in life.
What sets Delicious Spoonfuls apart is their commitment to inclusivity. Employees work part-time, ensuring that they don’t risk losing Social Security benefits, including health insurance—critical for people with disabilities. Additionally, they train typical high schoolers to work alongside their peers with disabilities, creating a more inclusive work environment.
